Harveys Bar F.C 6 vs. Barlow F.C 2
Harveys Bar took to the pitch yesterday in the first friendly for the 10/11 season. In there way was a Barlow side which had three AFC Lea & Holloway players. The new arrivals were on show, Adam and Joel Warburton as well as Daniel Boam. The Kryptonites had a full side, but without several key squad players due to injuries and holidays.
The game kicked off with Harveys playing 4-4-2. The shape looked good and although rusty Harveys seemed the better of the two sides passing the ball round with Haywood the main instigator of Harveys play. The first friendly gave Bettney the chance to move his players round and see them in different positions. The first goal of the game came from Swift’s corner met with CUNNINGHAM’s head at the front post to give Harveys the lead on ten minutes. Barlow took the centre and Barlow’s forward saw stand in keeper Cantrill way off his line to produce a 45yard lob.
The game once again at level pegging saw Harveys make changes with the game roll on, roll off. On came Joel and Adam for the first appearances for the Kryptonites. Harveys took control and after good work down the left from Joel Found BOAM making his Debut and notching his first for the club. Harveys only seem to get more confident and after good work down the left Gratton turn provider to find MASON with a brilliant header into the top corner.
Harvey’s wanted to finish the half on a high and after having most of the possession. Mason worked well with Haywood before finding Adam Warburton in space to thread the ball through to BOAM for the striker to hit his second of the game.
H/T Harveys Bar F.C 4 – 1 Barlow F.C
Barlow came out with there tail between there legs as the half time team talk was still ringing in there ears. Harveys dropped off which allowed Barlow to get a second after the low shot got deflected past Cantrill. Harveys had plenty of chances during the second half but just seemed to lack the final touch, Until Newman launched a hopeful ball into the box to be met by ARMSHAW whose header was first class to beat both keeper and centre back on the line.
Barlow were defeated and allowed Harveys to take the foot off the gas. Although defeated Barlow still had chances and Cantrill was there to make right his earlier mistake with three, first class saves. But it was Harveys who was finished the game on a high. Good work throughout the game down the left was causing too much trouble for Barlow who couldn’t deal with any of Harveys combinations. This time it was Maycock and Armshaw whose cross was met with a powerful downward header from SWIFT to complete the haul.
